Excessive Tire Wear
I have a 2018 S90 T8 Inscription purchased in December 2017. It has just over 25,000 miles and I’m about to put on my third (!) set of tires.
The ones that came with the car (Pirelli) were so bald at 17,500 miles that one of them blew a flat. The remaining 3 had no tread at all. The next set, a set of 4 Goodyear Eagle Touring tires that set me back $1200 were down to 7 or 8/32 in just 3,000 miles, and after 8,000 miles are below 4/32 and need to be replaced again. I rotated the tires at 4K after they were put on.
I’ve had the alignment adjusted 4 times, twice by Volvo and twice between Volvo’s alignments by the tire company that sold me the Goodyear set I have now.
Has anyone else had this problem? In every other car I’ve owned I get 25-30k miles on a set of tires. I drive mostly shorter trips at neighborhood speeds, with a few freeway drives over longer distances each month.

I'm in a similar situation December 2017 Volvo S90 Inscription and I noticed the wheels started balding pretty quickly. I've been driving them with very little tread but now it's time to change them and I've read only that the Pirelli P Zero's are only getting about 8K miles. That seems like very short mileage for tires. Have you noticed better mileage from a different brand? Probably changing tomorrow but dealer keeps recommending the P Zero's.

Good luck. I’d be interested to know what brand and model tires your installer recommends.
a couple thoughts - on the tire side wall you will find the DOT ratings for the tire - there's values for treadwear (a number typically from 100 to 700 ) - Anything under 400 is going to wear pretty fast - ie less than 30K. You can find all seasons with higher values that should last longer. If the treadwear is uneven, you need to have the car aligned regularly. I need to get my VW CC aligned every 5000 miles (agressive suspension, car is well known for eating tires) so you may want to have the alignment done more often until you are comfortable that its staying in spec. If not, there may be a factory part that is not quite right.
Im not sure I’ve seen a difference in different tire brands so far. The Goodyear premium tires wore out even faster, although they had a warranty and I’m now on the second set. I did have more alignment work done when they were installed and the wear doesn’t look too bad yet, but it may be too soon to tell.
Good luck. I’d be interested to know what brand and model tires your installer recommends.

I have soft tires that came with the S90 T8 Inscription. I have not had close to the same issues as you. The front tires are so bald they unsafe to drive. I was shocked there are less than 20K on them. We have been using the dealer for service and the tire look like they have never been rotated (the rear tires are fine).
We have a tight turn to get the car into the garage and I noticed there was skipping of the front tire on the outside of the turn. This is also seen in 4WD vehicles. After taking the car in for the 10K service this stopped. I am willing to bet that was part of the problem.
Thank you so much for posting. I thought I was going crazy. My other vehicle is F150. The tires on that are on 60K and going strong. I am willing to pay more to not have to put up with this.

An extra 14hp isn’t much, but it isn’t nothing, and the gear shifting is very quick too.
