Hello all, just to thank eveyone, the front end clunk was repaired be installing new stabilizer link kits.

Now for the next issue,withmy 1998 S90, I have a bad vibration that begins around 40 k, seems to stop around 55 k, gets a little better when the car has been driven for a while, also a really bad cycling droaning noise that starts around 90 to 110k. This car had been sitting for almost a year, and I was hoping some of these issues would go away on thier own. I have checked all mounts, changed the wheels and tires to other ones with no change, I am leaning towards the drive shaft hanger bearing, but would love comments and suggestions.

I love this car, spent about a year searching for it, it has 130000K on the clock, is very very clean, but this vibration is driving me nuts.

Another note, when this car starts and is idling, i also feel as though a mount may be ground out slightly, but all check out OK, still leaning towards the hanger bearing.

I would check that and also check the rear axles.

 

Hello Tech, is there anyway to check the rear shafts and cv joints without removing them, just grasping them, they feel fine, no extra play etc. As for the hanger bearing, and drive shaft all feels good, but once the shaft is out might as well replace the bearing ???? Your thoughts ??

 

Are the axle boots torn/leaking?

Yes if you have it all apart replace the bearing.

 

Hey Tech, no leaks or tears in the boots, and as previously said no looseness. Can anyone please explain how to go about changing the hanger bearing, is this something I can do at home?? They are around 50.00 (aftermarket)for the bearing, but I have no idea on labour.

It is kind of a pain to do. It will take atleast a couple of hours. You need to mark it before splitting the driveshaft in half. Also there is a set screw that needs to be removed to get it to come apart.
