Default Volvo S90 mods and tuning

I just purchased a 98 S90 w/ 113 K and I have one question??? Where are all of the aftermarket accessory web sites? I have seen them all, but they only list the good stuff for V/S70s and 40s. I am aware that this is not a race car and it has a big body, but where can I find throttle body spacers, cold air intakes, dual or single exhausts, performace cats, lowering kits, front bumper skirt lips, ECU upgrades, headers, cosmetics?? This doesn't mean that I want to do these things to my car, but I'd like it to breathe a little better, get a little growl, and see some more ponies. The only mod so far is a set of 96 850 T wheels that replaced the stock wheels. Thanks for any reply

If you have seen all the aftermarket websites then you have seen them. If I don't am not understanding where your coming from then you need to search the forum in the General Volvo section and look at the PINNED topic titled VOLVO FORUM RESOURCES THREAD.

Also the s90 wont have many aftermarket parts available if any. At least here in the U.S.

- Throttle Body Spacers: I have no idea where to find these for this model. Check with Brickboards or TurboBricks as they might know. Unless someone on here can answer it. Also it could be a custom job.

-Intake: Make a custom CAI and or try to find a K&N panel filter that wil fit your airbox.

-Exhausts: Go to a local muffler shop and have them make you one to your specs. This goes for the CATS as well buy a performance one and slap it on the system.

- Lowering Kits: I haven't seen any, but that doesn't mean the exist. Keep GOOGLING to find out.

- Front Bumper Kits: Again I haven't seen any so keep GOOGLING. Also this might be a case of you have to have it custom made. Same thing for side skirts and lips.

- ECU Upgrades: If I'm not mistaken the s90 is NA meaning no turbo in it. Thusly an ECU upgrade would net you almost nothing. Maybe 5-10 Hp at the most 20Hp. In any event contact SpeedTuning USA, Upsolute, Inmotion, IPD USA, RICA.

- Headers: We do not have headers. We have an intake manifold and an exhaust manifold. Again there might be something available so keep GOOGLING. Also again this could be a case of it needs to be custom made.

- Cosmetics: What kind of cosmetics are we talking about? Tint, rims, lights? If your in the U.S. try sources some E-codes. They are better then the U.S. OEM stuff and the turn signals are clear as well. I don't know where to start with this but try Brickboards and also TurboBricks. As they might be able to futher help you if someone else on here cannot.

Also again I believe your NA meaning no turbo. So making more horsepower will be hard and you wont gain much as you would on a turbo model. As far as the exhaust system goes 2.25"-2.5" piping to a free flowing cat but the muffler should be one with baffles in it like a Flowmaster. NA's like backpressure and if you use a straight through design muffler like a Magnaflow or BORLA you wont get that backpressure. Also the system doesn't need to be mandrel bent it can be crush bent for added backpressure.

On a side note. I did a little GOOGLING myself.

I found this for you.

Lowering Springs: http://www.1stgearcarparts.co.uk/pro...d5e33050d92fe4

As far as Front bumpers, side skirts and lips go... You could try to put the V70R front bumper on your s90. I wont say it will fit perfectly and I wont say it wont fit at all because anything is possible. Also you could try this with a regular S70 bumper as well and buy the HEICO front spoiler exstentions and attach them to the bumper. Or try an 850R front bumper and try to locate a rare CF lip. Which will be very very very hard to find.

If there is a custom tuner in your area they should be able to tune your car. Dyno tuning would need to be done and I would do the intake and exhaust system before the ECU tuning because if not you wont gain all the potential power. I would also do the intake and exhaust manifolds before this as well.

I saw a few people's S90's CarDomain pages. They basically just slapped a K&N cone filter onto the OEM intake track. That is what a lot of people do. If you can figure a way to get some piping down to the front bumper area and slap a cone filter on the end of it that right there is your CAI.

or ... find a real Volvo specialist mechanic and ask him what is different on the older 960's that they make 20 more horsepower, just bumping your engine up from 181 to 201 horses is a significant performance improvement, and the early 90's models have a nice exhaust rumble to boot

The difference between the early 960's and the newer ones is in the cams.

The later ones traded some top HP for bottom/mid range torque. Lower horsepower, but better driveability. You might be able to just slap the cams from the earlier engines on yours and get the 20HP back, but consider the tradeoff. Do you really let the car live in the higher rpm range enough to justify it?

Remember - HP makes the car go fast, torque is what gets you off the line (and what you use in most of your driving).

Allegedly, the M50 headers will fit as the spacing is dead on, but you'd have to have the holes re-drilled to match the Volvo head.
