Cant shift (V40 2012)
Hello people,
I have a Volvo V40 2012 D2 with manual transmission and I have an interesting case going on with my car. Took her to a few services but noone was able to identify whats wrong. Maybe someone here had a similar issue so you will be able to consult me.
Issue which occurs maybe once in a 1-2 months:
1. Once I start the car - I cannot shift. Its like the stick is being locked out from moving. It moves a bit, but never enough for the gear to go in...
2. If i turn the car off - I am able too put in the gears. If I start the car with a gear put in and clutch pressed down fully - the car moves forward and a strange smell occurs as well.
3. Could not put in a gear for a few days, but after that - everything was working fine again.
This again happened yesterday, could not shift in when the card was started. Then switched it off - moved the stick around for a while. Started the card again and was able to put in the gear...
Could it be something with the transmission? Or maybe the key cannot be identified thus it blocks shifting or something (however, if that was the case - it would not allow to start the car i guess)?
