metal on metal in right front suspesion
Hi there, I recently purchased my first volvo I got it used from the original owner who was moving to spain and she couldn't take it with her so she sold it to me for 1500 USD drive train was strong interior was clean minimal wear and tear. There was one issue it seemed there was a metal on metal noise banging around in the right front suspension. well today i finally got underneath it and took a look around there were a few things i feel need to be replaced and an apparent oil leak that i also need to diagnose. ill get in and clean the passenger side of the engine and figure out the leak after some research online i think it may be the seal at the VVT gear but ill have to look for sure.
now i cant seem to find this part or even know what its called to replace it I took a picture it runs from the torsion/sway bar to the strut and is mounted with bushing on each end the bottom portion of said bushing in completely destroyed and I assume this is the culprit to the knocking noise i am hearing.
i guess my question is what the hell is this part called lol?

It's called an end link or anti roll bar link or sway bar link. Make sure you buy the volvo oem ones if you are replacing. Otherwise they are prone to failing again within 24 months. It's purpose is to make sure that the car does not away too much when turning. Without them your front end will float around like crazy. Note that they often end up being seized at one end or the other so be prepared with an angle grinder on hand. Otherwise a super easy diy job.
