Radio says "OFF" tried resetting.
Hey, this is my post. So my dad ynhooked the battery on the volvo, and my radio says "OFF". I called the dealership and they told me to leave the key in the first position for 2/3 hours until it says "CODE". They also gave me a code to put in. I left it in there for about 3 hours a few times and it still says "OFF". I called them and they told me that it might not be the original radio from the car. Im pretty sure its the original, but what I need to know is,
1) What am I doing wrong if its the original?
2) If its not original, how do I get this issue fixed?
thanks for your time

is it a Volvo HU series radio? Dunno about waiting 2/3 hours - if you disconnected the battery, the radio should power on right away with the Key in postion 2 or with the car on and say "CODE" on the LCD. That is when you use the channel buttons to enter the digits (ie 1-2-3-4 means you press station preset 1, then 2, then 3 then 4). If its not the original Volvo radio, look to see if the prior owner wrote the code in the owners manual or in the glove box, or wrote on top of the radio (ie slide the radio out to see if the code is written on top).
OFF means you tried the wrong code 3 times. When you leave the car with the key in position one, you also have to leave the radio on (displaying OFF). After about 2.5 hours it should unlock and you can then input the code.
Whether the radio is original to the car doesn't matter. They all unlock the same way. Once unlocked, if the code they gave you doesn't work, then that means the radio is not the original one to the car.
