Our 2000 V40 has 106K miles and needs front struts, and probably rear shocks or struts whichever it has. The drivers front has a clunk that I'm told is the upper strut bearing. What make or brand strut is recommended for this car? Should I upgrade over oem equipment?

 

I would go with the OEM ones.
For the bearing plates do not use Scan Tech plates.
