Default Transmission upshift issues......

Our 2000 V40 has an occasional odd shifting problem. It will sometimes not upshift when pulling away from a stop. Typically putting the car in neutral and back into gear works, and sometimes turning the car off and back on cures the problem. The car has 106K miles and the transmission was serviced and the filter screen cleaned recently. Would replacing the transmission ECU solve this? Would new be recommended or would used be ok? I mention used because I'm wondering if there would be any conflict between the used transmission ECU and the onboard engine ECU?
