Default V40 Headbolt tightening - seem too tight?

Hi Guys

Apologies- my first post here and it's a question

We are in the later stages of rebuilding a V40 1.9 TD (the F9Q engine), and went to tighten the headbolts down this evening. They are new bolts, although from ebay- not OEM.

We attempted to follow this sequence:

1. 30Nm plus 50 degrees (in specified order)
2. fully slacken off (in order) after 3 - 5 minutes (allow for gasket to compress)
3. 25 Nm plus 213 degrees (again in specified order)

However- I had to stop before I completed stage 3- it was way too tight after 130 degrees, and felt like I'd pull the thread if I attempted to go any further...I was using a torque wrench and guesstimating I pulled ~120ftlbs before giving up.

In comparison, I whacked in one of the original bolts in and attempted the same sequence, and the bolt tightened up to ~200 degrees before I started to get nervous.

My guess is the replacement bolts I've got aren't stretching as they should, but wanted to check....has anyone else had issues tightening down the head bolts on these engines???

Thanks!
