Default Belt or Chain????

I recently bought a 2005 V50 2L diesel, the garage told me it had a chain so did not need to worry about belt changes, now my own garage tells me it has a belt and needs to be done....can someone enlighten me an tell me which is it?

Default Belt v. chain

I just bought a 2007 v50. The owner's manual says to change the timing "belt" at 120 miles (192 km). If anyone else has additional info I would sure like to hear it.

Default chain v. belt

I do not have a diesel but a convention non-turbo gasoline engine. Maybe the diesels have chains. Call your local Volvo dealer and ask for service. They will let you know for sure.

Hello,

Do you have a picture of this 120000 cambelt change advisory in the guide or can specify the page? I cannot find this?

I have 124 k miles
New prob .. While accelerating up mild hill vibration at 40mph feels like it's under.. Car. Duh ....I let off the gas a bit and it subsides .. No problem at high speeds..
Needs timing chain ??? I am taking it to dealer for 120k tune up and diagnosis
Has anyone had this problem?
It has been impossible for local mechanics to diagnose ! Will have to drive it 150 miles.. Yikes
Any input appreciated

If you haven't changed the timing belt, it needs to happen soon, both for mileage and time. Deferring this can destroy your motor.

OTOH, I don't think that would cause the vibration. Perhaps it's a spark issue. A DiCE / VIDA scan will show if there have been any events in the recent past.
