Green LED in roof panel???

Green LED in roof panel???
Hi All,
Greetings from the UK.
Just bought a MY07 V50. It's my third Volvo and makes me wonder why I ever drove anything else. But one thing is bugging me! What the heck is the little green LED for?
It sits in the front interior light panel and is recessed so you can't see it, and it is one all the time. One of the other forums suggested it's for 'interior ambience' adding a soft green glow to the centre stack. Can't see it myself...no really. Can't see it! I went out last night and there's no soft glow, the LED is too dim.
Apart from that do Volvo do ambience?
Any help appreciated.
