Default New Volvo Driver! A few Questions to get me going!

Hi Everyone, I've just become the very proud owner of an '04 V50 2.0 D SE, ad I'm loving it! By far the nicest car I've ever owned, I always said my next car would be a black estate, and (unlike my Golf!) would be unmodified, without too much in the way of cosmetic touchups! (My gold had so many different colour panels!)
Here's a few (dirty) pics of my V50 (Will make the hopefully-soon-to-come polished up pics look all the better!!!

I want to get this car back to immaculate, and there's only a few little jobs to be done:

The rear view mirror is missing half it's housing! And it comes off in your hand if you try and adjust it!! I've ordered the new bits to get it back together, but I can't imagine the plastic housing doing much to change how easily the mirror comes off!? Is there something else missing to hold it?

The last owner managed to scratch the brushed ali console :crying:

I've checked, and its £180+ from a dealership!! What hope have I got of somehow polishing and re-brushing the ali with wet-n-dry!!!? (No chance I'm guessing!)

The headlining is in a bit of a state too - anyone know what's best to clean it with?

The last thing I'd like to fix up, is the damage to the rear seat - the last owner's child seat has left stretched imprints in the leather

I know when retrims are done they take the ripples out of leather by steaming it - can i do this somehow to make the leather here more taught??

I've researched the lack of iPod interfaces, and just bought an RDS FM transmitter to play my iPod touch in the car - Was thinking of mounting a cradle for it at the top left of the stereo, using a diy bracket from one of the screws behind the waterfall dash, instead of damaging any visible part of the dash. Where have other people mounted theirs?

One last thing - I've found that when the headlights are on auto, full-beam wont engage, only flash. I'm talking about driving in complete darkness, surely I shouldn't have to manually switch them on to enable full beams??

Thanks guys, hopefully you can empart some of your wisdom on me!!

Nice looking car. You have some interesting questions that I'll have to think about.

My head lights don't have an "Auto" position. These cars do have a twilight sensor that triggers the infotainment control center (stereo & climate control) display to reverse light and dark, and also caused the headlights to brighten (switches from daytime running to normal head lights).
