Default V50 Headlight Issues

We have a 2005 V50 T5 AWD 6spd and love it. Great fun car for the family.

The only problem we have is the headlights, at night they are just dangerous.

There is a horizontal line about 35 feet out that just cuts the low beams off and they are so weak that you cannot drive more that 30mph without the highs on. The car is just dangerous to drive at night, when we do we have to keep the high beams on.

I have brought this to multiple dealers many times now and they say that everything is set up right and that is just how the headlights are meant to be. I find this hard to believe but I have found a few similar stories on the net.

Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this? New bulbs? New reflectors? New lights?

Tom

I know what you are talking about with the line. 35 feet seems a little to low. You could look up what the regulation is in your area for headlight aiming and adjust them your self or go to a different shop. Do you have the driving lights? They help a little.

I did switch my bulbs to Sylvania Silver Stars they are a nice improvement over the standard bulbs. Other than that, many folks go with an HID kit. There are some issues with these kits on our cars due to the daytime running lights. There is a good thread regarding HIDs on Swedespeed.com.
