V50 won't start. Dash lights up but nothing on key turn.
Hi All,
I have an issue where my Volvo V50 2006 won't start. The dash lights up and the battery is OK, but nothing happens on the tun of the key to start the engine. No clicking, just silence.
I have had a new starter motor fitted today, but it hasn't solved the issue. I have no other knowledge what it might be.
It's the family work horse so any tips or info is much appreciated.

Lots of threads on this symptom. The easy thing to do is to check to see if you're getting 12 volts at the "signal wire" at the starter, and then if you're getting a solid 12 volts at the big red "supply" wire at the starter.
The other obvious thing is to look for a bad ground strap (check for voltage from the engine block to the battery negative terminal when trying to start the car).
And of course, if you have a green key symbol on the dash, your immobilizer thinks you're trying to steal the car! ;-)
Lastly, "row" the shifter from P to L (or 1/2 - I forget) a few times, and make sure that the dash indicator is showing P or N (try both) when you're trying to start the car.
Good luck!
