Default Recalibrating Fuel Guage

I have a 99 xc with approx. 118,000 miles. My wife rant it out of gas last week, and since then I have been carefully monitoring the guage.

The fuel guage consistently says that it has two more gallons in it than it actually has. Is there a way to recaibrate it so that it is more accurate? Thanks in advance!

I forget if you can or not. I think it can be but only by the Dealer with a software download.

In the info center you can try resetting it and see what happens.

My gauge was also off after running out of gas, but it corrected itself after a few fillups. Don't ask me how, but it did.
