01 V70 T5 rough idle cold start
Hello,
I have a 01 V70 T5. Sometimes when I start the car in the morning it will idle rough for like 15 sec then idle fine. When the car is warm it will start just fine. When I started the car this morning it idle rough for like 15 sec but this time I had the driver side door open and I noticed a strong smell of gas from the tail pipe. I'm not really knowledgeable about fixing cars just some of the basics. If anyone has some Ideas to try or have a expert check please post your comments. Thank you for looking at my post.

I was having this problem for a while; would only idle rough first thing in the morning, when started cold; if I drove it around for a bit and started it later in the day, it'd be smooth as silk. Turned out to be the MAF sensor; it took me a while to come to this (correct) diagnosis, because I'd recently cleaned the MAF sensor using MAF cleaner, and just assumed that it would be in good order. I suspect that while MAF cleaner might be effective for moderately dirty MAF sensors, when the sensor has been really dirty for a long time, the sensitivity of the wiring in there becomes greatly diminished, such that no amount of cleaning can bring it back to life. BTW, I shopped around, and found that FCP Groton had the best price on '01 V70 MAF sensors, by a wide margin.
If it was your injectors, then you'd likely be having idle/misfire/surging issues all day long, not just first thing in the morning.
