I am a newbie and i did do a search on here. That being said i may have missed this info, but do i really need the $600 volvocrank cam lock tool for changing the timing belt? I have done all my own work on all my cars which are varied in make. Can this be done with out the tool. I have ordered the repair manual, just did not get it yet. I came here to see what others say. Any help would be great thanks everyone in advance.

Just buy the Haynes manual for the V70, this takes you through it step by step including how to make up / improvise a locking tool

 

thanks guys. i heard its a lot easier on the mechanical tensioner engines. but that tool link will be my next order.
