1998 V70R AWD Bearings ???
Hi All,
Got a 1998 V70R w/134000 miles on it. The other day I noticed a strange noise coming from underneath the car. It's only noticable at very low speeds with window open. The sound is pretty much exactly like the sound produced when using a clothespin to hold a baseball card to the spokes on your first bicycle. There's no sensation of vibration at all and the noise seems to be there while turning or going straight. I'm obviously thinking there something bad happening with a CV joint or some such. No evidence underneath of torn boots and the car ride fine. The sound is not tick ------ tick ------ tick at low speeds, more like tick-tick-tick.
Also heard this is probably the prop shaft as the sound is more of a metallic clacking according to one who can hear much better than I. I know the area of damage might be close to the cat converter. Heat wrecks a rubber seal I think. How is the prop shaft worked on?
Any clues? Thanks All.
