1998 Volvo V70xc Turbo Replacement
#41
issue resolved! i ended up taking apart the intake and cleaning the PTC unit at the bottom when i remembered there was a bit about that in one of the procedures i read. it was totally clogged. used some gunk and some air, put it back together and road tested it. no more smoke! i almost don't believe it.
i also checked the turbo shaft play and was able to get a camera down there to get a picture of the turbine which looks fine compared to some shots i have seen online. there was a minimum of play in the shaft just putting my finger on the tip of it and trying to move it side to side.
next is timing belt since i dont know when this was last changed.
thanks for all your help, tech.
