2002 V70 non-turbo front O2 sensor (correct PN?) 17137
Hi all,
First time posting on this forum...
Quick intro- I've been a Volvo and SAAB owner (1983 242Ti / heavily modified, 1987 740 GLE, 1990 245, 1991 245 SE, 1989 900S, 1990 900 SPG / heavily modified 300 hp, etc) all my life with no plans to change that, and have frequented many different online forums / Volvo+SAAB shows over the years.
Annnnnyway, quick, simple question regarding an O2 sensor for my 2002 Volvo V70 non-turbo. The CEL has been on for about a month, finally getting around to tackling the issue. Noticed the gas mileage went down a bit over this past month, so I suspected it was the O2 sensor. I just went over to Autozone for the free diagnostic test, and sure enough, it was the front O2 sensor.
They gave me Bosch PN 17137 and a price of about $120. From my research online, it looks legit. But I thought I would come here to the Volvo enthusiasts and experts for the final say.
So here is/are the question(s)...
Should I purchase this specific sensor (Bosch 17137)?
Is there a place with a better price than $120?
Anything else I should know?
Simple enough install?
(I've been working on all my Volvos/SAABs for years, but this is my first O2 sensor replacement on this V70)
Thanks much for your time

Bosch
Hello, In no particular order: 1) I would use the Bosch unit. The only time I ever replaced one was a Bosch (my sister bought the part for her vehicle). No problems at all. In fact, the biggest caveat you hear about is against universal sensors onto which the old plug has to be spliced-not good. 2) You have to shop in your sphere for price. Patronizing site sponsors (and letting them know I've seen their ads) is what I do. I have never seen better prices and I always need something else like cartridge filters or 18mm aluminum washers. FCPGroton is having a promotion now. I'll forward it to you if you want. 3) The sensor swaps out OK. The challenge is to reach the plug. I was under my V70 recently, saw the sensor but not the plug. 4) Was your code a P0138? Kira

Thanks much for the response.
I do believe that was the error code... 99.9% sure. Just didn't have a pen while we were outside, and the guy cleared the code when we got to the counter.
Thank you for the offer for the FCPGroton promotion, I'd love to take a look at it. I've used them hundreds of times in the past, but it appears this particular O2 sensor is pretty expensive from them. Is email or PM preferred?
Take care!
