Default Arming car.

Just got a '98 xcv70 a few weeks ago. When you lock the car with remote, is the alarm supposed to make a chirp or anything like that? I noticed the alarm horn mounted on the engine firewall. Does the horn alarm only make noise once the alarm has been set off, or do I have a wire loose somewhere?

I hit the red button on my remote which I think sets it off, and I think I only heard the two steering wheel horns go off, not the alarm horn.

It makes no noise when arming. The Parking lights flash only.
The horn you hear when it goes off is the alarm horn sounds like the regular horn.

How sensitive is it when armed and what would set it off if a burglar tried to mess with it?

On my 98 V70...i tested the alarm. I rolled down the windows and then armed the car...the little red light was flashing. I pulled up on the lock and then opened the door with the outside handle. No alarm, red light still blinking. Tried again, this time opened car from inside handle, alarm went off. Is this normal? Seems weird alarm doesnt go off when lock pulled.

BTW...the red light was only flashing every few seconds...after alarm set off kept flashing.

The alarm is funny on these cars.
If you pull up on the Lock button then open the computer knows.
The Led will flash till you cycle the key.
