1998 v70 rear brake lamps work on occasion? i mean all of the rear lamps don't always work. A lot of times i depress the pedal and the lamps don't illuminate, but i can shift out of park? hazards work, parking lamps work, turn signals work, and so do the reverse lamps. When the lights do work they all work normally? is there some sort of relay that controls this or is it possible that the switch on the pedal arm is going bad? any ideas/ help would be great. Thanx in advance everyone!

 

I too am having this issue. Sometimes the brake lights come on, sometimes they don't. If I tap them repeatedly they will usually come on.

The bulbs are fine.
Sometimes the bulb indicator lamp will come on when I tap the brakes, but not always.

Any idea on what could be causing this?

 

That is usually a bad brake light switch.

I messed around with things over the weekend and I feel it is the brake light switch that is causing the problem.
