What should I be looking for to be in good condition with this kind of car, is the price too high ?

If there's anything else I should know, tell me, I'm new at this and trying to be better!

Thanx

Imepala,

Did you get the car??

From the little info provided (the link didn't work), you have a good start.
Make sure all the electronics is working......(pain in the butt to do yourself)
The A/C is another area you should check. Does the car have a moon roof?? Make sure it's not leaking.
The C/V boots is another weak area.... the rubber is not of the best qualityand will have cracks, unless they have been changed.
Timing belt.... should have been changed at least once, if not twice.

I bought a V70 AWD 1998 in february 2008 (after I had been rearended in my 855T5 .... R.I.P) including everything taxes and fees USD 5900.00
I only had two weeks in order to find a new car from the insurance company!! Wish I have had more time so i could have search for more cars.
Time was up, my V70 has today 116k miles (185600 km) on the meter. No major issues .... but maintainance is required. Living in the NW corner with real winters takes the tolls on any car.
Have the car checked by a certified service station and have them check each and every corner of the vehicle..... trust me, (even though it has a small cost to your wallet, you will have a certified paper to start negotiating with)... I have bought some cars without the checkup, and been sucked.

I do prefer the Swedish manufacturer for some reason. My first car was an SAAB 93 from 1958 with an inline 3 cylinder two stroke engine.... god I wish I had that car today!! Over the years I have had European cars and only one American car (Buick) which I had only for three months before getting an Volvo.

Once again, good luck in your search.

BTW, I am about to buy another Volvo within the next week. Price tag 700 dollars for another Volvo from 1998.... it's a 960 Executive with 124600 miles on the meter, (already checked by my local shop)in tiptop shape...... This one will be for my son, turning 16 in january.... and besides it's a good car for a teenager.

Hello all,

I am looking at a 98 V70 tomorrow. I apprecaite the tips above and will check the areas mentioned (anyone have anything to add?).

I noticed in reading other posts on the forum there is a way to run a type of 'self test' using the dash display>? I wonder if anyone can tell me how to do this? Thanks in advance.
