Default Can't get the new alernator to fit! Please help!

Hello everyone. I have a 2001 Volvo V70 non-turbo. I'm trying to replace the alternator and have been using this website to help me along the way. I've run into a roadblock.

I successfully removed the belt, PS pump (not all the way, but moved it to the side), and the old alternator.

I have the new alternator in the right spot, but it doesn't seem to want to slide into the area that it should. There is a gap and 2 bolts that go through it, and the alternator is supposed to slide into the gap, but it won't go.

Any suggestions on what I should do would be much appreciated.

I found this on a different message board.

I know it's not the same car, but if you look at the #4 bolt. The part of the alternator that that goes through is where I am having problems. Do I have to remove/loosen whatever is below it? Is that the AC?

Did you slacken the 2 lower A/c compressor bolts?

Thanks tech! I ended up figuring that out yesterday. I didn't realize there were more bolts to loosen.

I finally got everything back together and the car is running fine.

Thanks again.
