I am not sure how this forum works but I need some help/ advise.

I very recently bought a 2002 v70 xc cross country wagaon. When I bought it it started rough. Turned over fine, just didn't always start on the first try and had to hold the key to start it for a couple seconds. On the second try, it started right up and ran fine. Well, I went to start it this morning and it took about 5-6 tries and after it started it died within seconds. Since I bought the car I could smell gas in and around the car. Would this be the fuel pump or the fuel pressure regulator, both or something else all together. Before this morning when it took a couple tries to start it ran great once it started. Please, any and all help would be great. There isn't a Volvo mechanic within at least 50-60 miles and I live in Michigan, GM-Ford country. Thanks in advance
