Hi, I seem to have a non existant cruise control function. No indication that its on or off, it does nothing. I live quite remotely in Ireland and mechanics kinda suck air at the mention of such things. So I have the cruise control gear, but no light comes on when I press the switch, and there is no effect on the car whatsoever. Does anybody have any ideas where I should start looking to solve this problem? Any help would be much appreciated, then I can go looking for a straight road.....

 

The cruise vacuum pump is mounted under the battery tray. Check the hoses coming off of the cruise pump to the cabin.

 

I was wondering if it may be the start of an ETM failure (if you have 99-01 V70). Mine started by the Cruise failing, then the engine stuttering began. I am now told it is the ETM. Hopefully this is not the case with you and it may be a simple vacuum or component issue.

 

My cruise failed when my ABS went out.

This was a failed ETM(replaced Oct 2009). Once replaced and reprogrammed, throttle response returned, and the cruise functioned once again! Excellent results since (4k miles later).
