The (electroluminescent?) odometer/tripmeter/message display on my '03 V70 2.4T will occasionally go very dim and once blacked out completely. I discovered the other day that dialing the dash light level up and down will resotre it although in normal operation this control seems to have no effect on this display. The beginnings of a gremlin? - Need to know becasue the car still has 8 months to go on the extended warranty and, based on a similar malfunction in a Mercedes, I expect that repair is expensive.

Have it checked the switch might be going bad.
Have never seen a newer one go bad but has the affects of one going bad.
