Default Dash turn indicators don't always work

Just purchased a 2003 V70 2.4L, seems like a good car but I'm having issues with the turn signal lights on the dash only working about half the time. The outside signal lights always work even when the dash lights don't. All of the bulbs are working, I'm not getting a message about bulb failure.

I'm thinking maybe it's the flasher (bad/dirty contact?), but I'm not sure. Has anyone else had a similar problem and know where I should begin? Maybe it's not related but the in-dash message screen also tends to go nuts and become unreadable at times.

Smile Flasher

I had the same problem on my V70 XC. I went to the junk yard and picked up a used flasher unit for $5.00, Problem solved.
Hint" to remove flasher unit take a small tech screwdriver and pry the side of the flasher unit. Go side to side to loosen up, I also moved the shift lever for access to pull it out once it was loose.

Thanks for the reply,

I've got two questions:

1 )My flasher is near the top of the dash between the vents, not near the shift lever. It's a small triangular shaped button. I pulled the button off but it looks like the switch's electrical "guts" are behind the vent bezel. Do I just pry the bezel out with a flat screwdriver or do I have to remove the radio to get access to some screws? It's a 2003 V70, non-turbo.

2) Did your outside signals work, just not your dash turn lights?

Thanks for your help!

I have a similar problem. My dash lights, headlights and turn signals do not always work. I have to play with the ignition switch. I was told it was a bad ignition switch.
