Default four to five speed swap, anyone ever tried it?

I just finished putting motor and tranny in car. Come to find out they sold me a 5 speed to replace the 4 speed in the car. The main plug connection seems to fit solid but there is an extra plug on the 5 speed. Has anyone ever done this swap, know what needs to be changed? Would it be worth it? I hate to take the motor back out if it'll work without too much work.

I have not tried it. If you have the 5 speed you also know it does not use normal ATF right?

It might work fine but not sure.

I was just recently reading about that, 3309 compatible I believe it is. I didn't get to finish it tonight. I should have it together tommorow. I'll let you know if it works. The junk yard must have screwed up, they sold it to me for $175. I didn't realize it was different until I had to replace the rear mount, by then it was in the car. So either I go forward, or pull it all apart again. I choose to go forward. I have 2 plans if it doesn't work. One plan is to pull it out and sell it. The other plan is to take it to lkq and tell them if they want their tranny back they can take it out of the car and put in the right one. Not so sure plan 2 will work but I think there is about a $700 difference in the price.

Just in case anyone is wondering. I got to the point of installing the CV axles and realized my axles wouldn't fit. So I took it back out and put the 4 speed back in. Yesterday was very long day. Today I got to the point of installing the CV axles and I said to myself "this impact gun might be a little much for that 14mm socket bolt on the axle" Ignoring good sense I broke the bolt on the driver side axle. Good news is the new motor purrs like a kitten.

The bolt should come out pretty easy. You might be able to use a pick and walk it out some then use pliers to unscrew it.
