Has anyone swapped their VC unit with Haldex?

Default Has anyone swapped their VC unit with Haldex?

I have a 2001 V70XC with 2.4t. I love the car, I got it with all the options I wanted but the awd is on it's way out since it's a VC and for some reason the diff was ran without oil for I don't know how long before I got it. I want to drop in the haldex unit. Has anyone done this swap before?

You won't be able to do it. The haldex system is integrated with the ABS system.

Actually, certainly with enough money you could, but it would be cheaper to purchase a 2003+ car that came with Haldex.

Wouldn't that just be a programming issue? Mechanically I know the pieces just bolt straight up and the DEM of the Haldex plugs into the REM. Wouldn't it be just a bit of wiring and telling the ecu 'Hey, send this data and this data on these two pins.'?

OK i'll bite - who is going to do this "programming"?

I'd bet the ABS/DSTC module does not have the brains to control the haldex. So perhaps figure out how to rig a 2003 ABS module onto a 2001. Then you might need a wiring harness - and does the CEM need to know about this new module?

Since I currently ended up living in the Netherlands for a while volvo tuning support is at each and every corner so I'll rely on my local tuner. I've yet to bring all this up to him since I want to do my ground work before.

Huh, yea, I guess so. If they managed to retrofit a 2003 rem and make it play nice with my 2001 CEM then I guess replacing the ABS module with a DSTC one shouldn't be that much of task. Hopefully.

Man, I would get a 2003+ but I got a stellar deal on the car I have and to trade this one in I'd also have to add between 2500 and 3000 euros on top of it. AND I have the 2.4 which is in immaculate condition and I've had it tuned to 260 bhp on stock everything almost.

Thanks a lot for mentioning the DSTC. Would there be anything else that I'm missing for this swap?
