Help with belt tensioner.....
I just installed a new alternator for a 2001 Volvo V70 T5....
i thought since im at it let me put in a new belt as well. Car turned on and all seemed fine but the belt tensioner pulley seemed like it was breakdancing.
i checked all the bolts and tightened everything up but to no avail, everytime i turn the car on the belt tensioner is shaking and it looks like its vibrating the engine.
did i go wrong anywhere or is the tensioner shot?
how often do these things go bad, is it common?
i dont even have any idea how to replace it and if thats the problem....
anybody done something like this?

i know that Tech but the thing is........is that normal?
i never paid attention to it.......in my other cars the tensioner is still, no moving or dancing
do i replace it, and is it an easy procedure?
am i gonna curse life itself it i take to this task.
I did however manage to replace the alternator, thanx a lot for the tips, really usefull things you told me, especially loosening the a/c compressor bolts
