On occasion after turning the fan on it starts then stops and both lights flash on the AC buttons .It will try to restart each time you try but just stops. later in the day after restarting the car it works fine. This happened a few times in the winter just sub-0 thought it might be that. Now it has happened in the summer 70+.Garage says cant do anything if it is working when I take it in. Another garage says might be dodgy fan motor. Big bucks unlesI can have it done under warranty. Model is 1998 V70 AWD

The Blower motor and resistor are bad.

 

Thanks does this require a new motor or can resistors be changed I feel tht 6 months between the fault occurring seems along time for dodgy motor or have I just been lucky

 

You have been lucky it will get worse.

Replace both or atleast the motor.
