Default navigation system malfunctioning

Hi. I' Max, I live in Italy and I'm having another problem with navigation system of my v70 2002.
Ita was a few weeks that the system was going into "not possible to read the DVD..."etc.
But, always after a while, the system was functioning again.

Since it was enough time that I was not cleaning disk or lens, I did it and the system went TOTALLY out of serivce.

Cleaning, checking, putting in and out the disk, always is giving the same "not possible to read the DVD"

Before going to Volvo repair, there are some maneuvers that anyone could suggest?

Thank you,
Max

I know this is an old thread but I am having the same problem. Anybody know if there are any checks I could do or what might be the problem? I just got a 2004 V70. Thanks.

Default nav system malfunctioning

...and now this thread is even older. My nav ('06 S80) started the same thing just today. "Unable to read disk." Disk is pristene, and in 5 years of regular use, this is the first time this has happened. No response to any buttons. I've unplugged and reseated all cables, power-cycled the unit several times, and tried both disks wth same result. I've read other posts like this, but the only advice i see is to clean the disk. Dirty disk is definitely not the problem here. Updating disk(s) really makes no technical sense and i can't imagine it making any difference. And unlike another post, I haven't replaced the battery recently. In fact, there's nothing to point to between when it last worked (yesterday) and now. Worst part is I can't even get the screen to retract, so it comes up every time the car is on and shows the error. Not working is one thing...not working and reminding me constantly is just an eyesore. this is a tough one.
