Need quick help please!!! Need gas lid open
I hate to work under pressure but in between soccer games today, I went to put gas in my daughters 99 S70 and cant get lid open. I had the drivers door panel off last weekend to replace speaker and reglue panel. I thought everything went well until today. Just had enough time to check fuses and pop the panel off. I thought I forgot to plug in plug, as the trunk wont open either, but the plug was in place. I couldnt find a fuse in the manual that protects that circuit so I checked them all. No blown fuses. Going out to start working on it now, any advice???
OK, I got the door open. All I had to do was reach in front of the little motor that opens the door, and pull the black latch. In the meantime I disconnected the battery, as recommended on another post. Now I have to go to the dealer to get the code (car is new to me). A block fell off the door panel so that has to be glued back on. I had to get a jumpstart from my wife because I played around with it so long. I blew a fuse trying to jump some power off the taillight. I spent 2+ hours messing with this thing and it only took a second to open the door the right way. Now I just need to figure out why the latch isnt working.....Is this Volvo love???
ok, now this is getting wierd. I spent the first half of my day at junkyards looking for a switch that operates the windows and doorlocks, and the switch for the gas door n trunk. I found neither. However, the morning was not a total loss as I found front struts, receipt was in car, and 2 door lock actuators that I needed. I went to change the rear door actuator and before I started, just for kicks, I tried the gas door, it opened! The trunk unlatched and the door lock button was working too! I replaced the rear actuator and afterwards checked the locks and gas door and everything still works. Using the key, I locked and unlocked all doors. Somehow all these things are interrelated and just started working again without any parts replaced. I think it's great but how long is it going to last? a loose connection somewhere? Using the car for a few days somehow reset the locking sequence? I don't know. Just thought I would update even though I didnt have anything to do with fixing it
Glad your gas door is working. Those doors have a hinge that is pretty easy to install and doesn't cost much. Check FCP or iPd and get yourself a new one. Glue is not good.
As for the other stuff working, it seems to be heat related. When it gets real hot they don't work.
Hope you got a good deal on the struts.
