Plugging Garmin into 12V outlet
Just bought a V70, and there's something bugging me. I have a Garmin Nuvi, and the Garmin car charger absolutely will not stay in either of the 12V power outlets (the one on the dash and the one on the back of the center console/arm rest). I plug it in, and it pops itself out in about 2 seconds. I'm able to plug other car chargers in the Volvo, and the Garmin car charger works perfectly fine in other cars. I conclude that it's just an issue with the Garmin in the Volvo. Anybody else had this same issue? It seems like the metal retention gizmos on the Garmin charger are located a bit further up from the end, so they don't fully engage in the charger.
Also, it seems that neither one of the outlets is hot wired to provide power even with the ignition off. Very inconvenient for charging things like a cell or GPS. Anyone got a work around or hot wired it?
Thanks,
Joe

RE: Plugging Garmin into 12V outlet
My solution: I installed an outlet in the glovebox that's got juice directly from the battery (fused and grounded of course). Bought a Bell brand outlet at Advance and installed it in minutes. Solved both my problems. My Garmin charger fits it more snugly, so it doesn't pop out, and it's got full-time juice, so things charge even with the car off.
