Default power steering fluid

I have a 2003 Volvo V70 2.4t. Can I use AFT Synthetic as power steering fluid?

Hello, Use Pentosin CHF-11S in your system. It's transparent, pale green in color. It's the same synthetic stuff as Volvo branded fluid but less expensive.

In a pinch (trapped in Death Valley with a leaking power steering system, say) you could make due with synthetic ATF but you'd have to flush it out after you got to safety.

Use the proper stuff in the first place. AND, if your system is filled with red stuff or brown, burnt fluid, flush it until clear.

Central Hydraulic Fluid takes heat better than ATF. Power steering pumps are incredibly small, precision devices. Don't skimp on fluid. Kira
