I've just bought a 1998 saffron V70r to keep my 850r company. The V70 was originally AWD but has since been converted to FWD only.

I would like to restore the AWD system. Has anyone done this and is it something a (reasonably) competent home mechanic can carry out.

I don't have the AWD running gear so does anyone know if the running gear from a V70 XC (1999) would be up to the job?

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

 

It probably just needs a rear driveshaft. There would be no reason to remove anything else when using it for FWD. You can buy one from the dealer or find one form a wrecking yard with a warranty.
