Default replace CV boot or whole axel?

We just got a 98 XC and really liking! While messing doing a couple little repairs I noticed the front drivers outer CV boot had blown up and got grease everywhere. The axel and boot looks like a newer one and we haven't really driven it much since the boot blew so I was thinking of just relacing it.

Does anyone know how hard it is to relace the boot itself? I can get the boot for $20 or the whole axel for $100, I just don't want to waste the $20 and a whole night if I can't ge the new boot on.

Thanks!

The CV boot is more work than the axle change since you have to pull the axle anyway. For $80 difference, I'd just change the axle out, then you'll know you have all new parts and won't have to go back in there for a while.

Here are some directions:http://volvospeed.com/Repair/cv_boot.html

but $20 to me is a lot easier to handle, might get them both and chance the boot swap and in case I loose my temper I'll have the whole thing I'll just have wasted $20... hmmm.
