Default Seafoam

Hi all

Finally got to try some Seafoam. I had to ship it over to my side of the dam (which cost more than the 2 bottles I bought :P) but I read so many good things about it I just wanted to try (pretty sure my neighbours hate me now though )

Anyway, my question is, when chucking some of it into the oil, are you supposed to change the oil soon afterwards or is it a "permanent" additive? I have read the site and watched the videos, but you hear a lot of contradicting stuff.

Peace,
Rafiq

Well, I'm impressed, it actually does work

I ran some of this through my intake, chucked some into the tank and into the oil. It definitely feels like it's running smoother and the valve lifter noise, which I have grown accustomed to when starting up, is now also gone

Definitely worth the effort.

Oh and I threw it in the oil just before I changed it (seems to be the most used method) and drove it a couple of kms. Just makes sense really, you don't want to drive your car with a bunch of loose debris floating in the motor , do you

Peace.

The other day I was considering this, but then I read a story (here or at Volvospeed, or some other Volvo forum, I can't remember where) about a guy who used it, and it messed up the engine to the point where he needed a new one!!!!! .

So, since my car runs pretty normally, I thought "if it ain't broke,..."

I suppose it is possible, but unlikely.

I know from articles I have read on mineral and synthetic oil, that although the 2 are completely compatible, they do warn that when changing over from using mineral oil (especially if it was used for most of the cars life) to synthetic that you might have problems with bits of packed up gunk coming loose and blocking oil passages.

....on other boards.....people have reported they 'hydrolocked' the engine because when 'sucking' it in the intake they let too much get sucked in....gas or oil is easy, but you need to find a good vacuum point to suck it into the intake....on my 4Runner I use the vacuum hose on the master cylinder.....FWIW I've never really noticed any difference after adding it.
