i was driving, and went to pass someone, so i pressed the accelerator down pretty hard and about halfway through the rev, i heard a pop, the card then slowed, but i finished the drive with no smoke, etc. I then experienced periodic engine "shakes" at idle, and a dramatic loss of engine power, also there is a new whistling noise that is not the turbo whistle, sounds like a leak from somewhere, the car was properly warmed up (had been running for 30 minutes) however i just gotten back from the airport where it had sat for about 4 days.

any ideas of what is the problem?

Was it a really loud pop? I have had this happen to me and it was one of my turbo hoses popping off.

 

yes a pretty loud pop, and that was my first thought, it sounded like a hose went "pop" right off, is it easy to fix, can i do that on my own, im out of town, and would rather not drive it home like this.

 

Does it make weird noises like it is trying to move along but it is like coughing kinda? Check the turbo hose. The one in particular is the one that attached the Upper IC pipe the pipe that goes over the engine bay to the actual turbo. It would be behind the engine block.

 

really appreciate the help, i walked outside and popped the hood, and the hose (dont know what it is exactly to) that is right on the front of the engine had popped off, its connected to a longer plastic part that runs over top of the engine and to the rear. maybe a turbo hose?

put it back on, and tightened it up, thanks again!!!

 

Yeah TURBO hose it was. Glad to be of service. That will be $50 for the advice plus $100 service fee.
