Default time to schedual regular maintenance message display

I recently purchased a 2006 V70, with 59,500 miles. I took it to a mechanic, who is well versed in Volvo service, for a 60,000 mile service maintenance. The car is in excellent condition, and everything checked out fine. It now has about 62,500 on it and a week ago, while I was on a road trip, this message, 'time to schedual regular maintenance' started to display whenever I turn the car on or off. The manual says it has to be reset, by the dealer, and cannot be manually overidden. Worse, it will come on every some many miles or months, regardless of whether the car needs to be serviced. It's a reminder. An annoying reminder. Is it possible for me to turn this message off permanently or does it have to be done at the dealer? I'd like to avoid that as the cost for any work at the dealer is prohibitive.
Any suggestions?

Default Reset Methods

Hello, Insert key to position l. Push the trip reset button in and turn the key to position ll. There will be a beep or the number will flash within 4 seconds and you can release the button. There were variations listed in the posting I read. Truth be told: Whenever I clear my Service/Maintenance Light I can never remember EXACTLY how I did it. Do a search on this subject here or on another board. Hope this helps. Kira
