Default tube missing..disconnected..what is it and is it bad?

Hey guys ,i decided to take a peek under the hood today (there was a disturbance in the force!)...so i checked my oil and it was okay, i took the light and started looking. I noticed a tube that had disconnected itself and seems to be missing a "joint" section....if i'm looking at the engine, at the oil filler cap, to the left of it right where the spark plug cover is, there is a plastic tube that starts there goes in between the intake manifold and is supposed to go into a box? is this the pcv box? well from the manifold , it is disconnected and seems to be missing a piece..here is a pic of the tube coming down:

Here is a pic of the tube where it's disconnected..i was looking around and can't find the missing piece.

is this really bad for the engine and other componencts? is it a big job to replace the piece?
thanks

That is the hose from the vent box. I would get it fixed soon.
The engine vent system is not working properly now.

Hey Tech, long time no see..how are you?
thanks for replying...from pics that i've seen, isn't this long tube supposed to be one piece? it seems like a section is missing thoug?h? does the intake manifold need to be taken off? i hope not, i can fit my hand from behind it, maybe it's an easy fix? is there a valve in the missing place or just tubing?
thanks

The older cars used to be one bog hose. The newer style hoses they put like a flex section in there which over time hardens and breaks. Yes you need to remove the intake manifold to replace it.

I am hanging in there lately just really busy.

noooooo i really need to take off the manifold? i can get my hand back there and re attach it...how does this connecting piece attach, clamps on both ends?
i don't wanna have to shell out big bucks to remove manifold for just a small piece..

Yes there is a clamp at the vent box and one under the top spark plug cover.
You will need to buy a new hose to.

I'm a little confused though...on the tube i have i'm missing that FLEX section, but when i looked at the replacement part on IPD, it's one solid long piece of tube...what this the newer version of the tube? can i just buy the FLEX piece that's missing or a whole new tube?
