I am a new member here.
I own a XC40 Volvo 2018, T5 engine.
During my journey today, on a highway, a strange noise occured. When i accelerate, from under the dashboard a noise just like a turbo-charger whistle appear. Did someone of you experience this kind of phenomenon?

I had a 2019 xc40 R sorry nothing similar now have a 2021 xc40 it is ok

 

Yes, I had this sound recently noticed on a 2021 model running only at 14000 km. I tend to believe it is coming from the engine as I feel the engine loose the power intermittently during that time. All goes well once I settle on the higher speed although this can be mixed with the relatively higher vibration noticed on the car in the range of 100 to 120 km/h.

 

Hi Cristi - I just purchased an XC40 T5 2019 out in 2018 and the whistling is driving me nuts unless the radio is on. I noticed that it only occurs when the gas is pressed, even on long trips at same speed. Did you ever find out what the problem was? I'm noticing a lot of weird things in this car making me think it may have electrical problems.
