Default 2009 XC60 Driver's Side window switch and mirror controls not working but locks work

Hi all,
I have been searching the web but have not found a situation that matches mine. On the driver's door, none of the window switches work nor do the mirror controls. However, the locking switch is working fine. Anyone seen anything similar or have an idea what might cause that?

As a side note, I've seen mixed opinions about whether it is necessary to get a new switch programmed by the dealer. Anyone know if I can simply install a new switch or do I need to get it programmed?

Thanks

Default In the Same Boat...

I have exactly the same symptoms in my 2017 XC60 T5. It just stopped working, then worked for one drive, but now it's dead. I'm about to go out and take the door panel off and see if there's any physical indications of what may be causing this.

I'll let you know what I find.

This is most likely the issue although, after tinkering with it myself, I took it to two mechanics, one at the time of the post and one recently after a move to a new area. Neither could find this issue and ended up referring me to the dealership. The dealership basically played trial and error, first replacing the master switch, didn't fix it, then replacing the wire harness, then told me that I needed a new window motor on the drivers side. Not sure if it was completely not working until the window motor was replaced or if the other windows started working and only the drivers side wasn't, thus the motor.

At the point they told me about the motor, they had my car for close to a month and I just wanted to get it back. Of course they insisted that all of those parts were malfunctioning, something I think is very unlikely.

One thing one mechanic indicated that might be helpful that could provide a diagnosis is to try the switch at various stages of having the door open, the testing the harness at various stages of being flexed. If it works at some stages of open, it likely is the wire harness.

Best of luck to you.

Rafiki, thanks for sharing that video. I'm definitely going to check my wiring harness at the door hinge. That damage was unbelievable. So was having to pay $100 CND for a single door hinge pin. Those swedes need to lay off the crack because that's just a bold-faced rip-off IMHO.
