Some, including me, do not wish to remain on a continual car payment merry-go-round. Personally, I typically buy-and-keep my cars for 12+, and in many cases 15+ years. At least I did this in the past, and will probably end this practice with the purchase of my last, factory ordered, 2020 V90 Inscription T6. In my garage, I currently also own a 2007 Lexus ES350, which I bought new in 2007, and feel it will easily last another 5 years or more. It still runs like a clock. With this said, on a go-forward basis, and considering all of the new technology being pushed into the new cars, I would find it hard to acquire one, whether by lease OR straight purchase. IMO, the tech, a lot of which isn't truly proven yet, is continually and rapidily evolving. I, for one, don't wish to be on the bleeding-edge of this technology wave.

I took delivery of a 2023 XC60 Recharge Plus two weeks ago. Drove about 300 miles so far, and has not burned a drop of gasoline yet. Mostly charge at work. So far working fine without any glitch. Hopefully it will be mostly trouble free for a while. An XC90 Recharge (which I also tested drive) was side-by-side with mine at the dealer's vehicle delivery room

I agree with the two posters above about buying cars nowadays compare to, say 10+ years ago. All my previous cars are kept at least 10 years with 150k+ miles without the need of extended warranty. But with the complexity and computerization of cars nowadays, I would be satisfied if the XC60 Recharge would last me 8 years/100k+ miles. Assuming there is no major issue, I plan to keep it for 4 years/50k under the standard warranty period, and then re-evaluate whether to keep it another 4 years (& potentially buy the extended warranty).

Just a few thoughts ... I believe you purchased your car so, if you sell it within the first 4 years, your depreciation hit will be significant. Also, if you decide to keep it after 4 years, and then purchase an extended warranty at that point, you will likely find that this warranty will be considerably more expensive than if you purchased it when your car was very new. As far as a VIP extended warranty is concerned, I've heard of in the $4K to $5K range to extend coverage to 10 years or 100K miles, whichever comes first. The price is dependent on factors such as the age of the vehicle, coverage desired and the deductible, from what I understand. Prices change constantly. When I purchased my factory ordered 2020 V90, I also purchased the Platinum VIP 10 yr/100k, zero deductible. It cost a little over $3K.

Agree. The cost from my VIP, as noted, was from Steingold, at that time. Steingold frequents Swedespeed and often provides a discount code that can be used with a VIP purchase through them. Of course, if one wishes, one can always try to negotiate a better price with the dealership, although Steingold's prices are very competitive. It never hurts to try.

Default So far, so good?

I took delivery mid-September on a 2023 XC60 recharge, ultimate package. I have really enjoyed it and had no problems other than having to replace a tire when I went through a pothole in the dark. I had to restart the infotainment system after the repair. Otherwise, generally it has been fine. And I love that in the 7 weeks I have had the car, I have basically used no gas.

My one complaint is that the car seems to lose traction more than I am used to from my previous Honda CR-V and Pilot. It literally slips on painted lines on the road. I think the traction control/driver assist kicks in because I feel the steering wheel tug. It happens enough on my commute home (which is 4 miles and apparently has some slippery lines on the road) that I am looking for some information on whether this is some kind of issue with the car. ETA: I think it may be the lane keeping aid. I have turned it off. We will see how that goes. I hope it is that and not that the car is slipping!

But the car is very luxurious, the sound system is great, the seats are comfortable and I love the crystal ****, which I thought was stupid when I bought the car! The power is great -- accelerates well.
