XC60 reliability
Hi, I would appreciate if someone could share their experience with the recent years newly designed XC60. I am looking at T5 or T6 model. What are the common issues? I am hoping to keep the car for 10 years+ or so but not sure with newer cars that is possible, especially knowing now that Volvo will switch to ONLY hybrid or electric in two or three years. I am comparing XC60 with Outback Limited. I know it is not same price point but I am looking at it from reliability, safety, and utility point of view. Thank you!

I had a 2016 Outback..great car, probably a better value than the XC60. I traded it in for a 2019 XC 60 T8 Inscription which I do love. I didnt have any issues with my outback.....They do seem to have some entertainment issues. Good forum for outbacks is https://www.subaruoutback.org/forums...n-5-2015-2019/ I had the 2.5 engine, while it was fine, the 3.6 was a bit peppier.....not a whole lot though. Posters on that forum made it sound like it drove like a Porshe, lol I test drove it a few times..yes it was a bit peppier, but not a gteat deal. I think the biggest benefit was that it was a very reliable engine....I believe the 2019 model is the last yr of the 3.6..... The Outback does have a bit more room than the XC60
A busy Volvo xc60 forum is https://forums.swedespeed.com/forumd...C60-(SPA-2018-) I have not had any issues with my T8.....Volvos are 1 of the safest vehicles on the road...saved my mother in laws life years back.

if you are looking at a new car, the models are too new to have any sort of reliability track record. The only criticism I've heard is on the T8 where one reporter complained of the seamlessness of the hybrid vs other cars. Given the general redesign of the power train its tough to compare to to the 2016s and older for issues. My thoughts are for ANY car you buy new or say recent pre-owned is that if you follow factory maintenance - including fluid changes etc, keep the car clean, get regular service with inspections your car will last 10+ years easy. My current fleet includes a 2012 VW CC (90K miles, still very tight) a 2004 Highlander (195K miles, starting to see some minor maintenance like bushings, calipers etc), a 2000 S40 (125K, still runs great but parts go from time to time) and a 2008 Mazda 3. Other than a clutch and an O2 sensor, routine maintenance. Said goodbye last year to our 95 850 Turbo wagon with 275K miles when the Mazda was inherited. Took the 850 to the crusher as it had some problems and no buyers.
