21 XC60 cranking but not starting
Hi,
I recently purchased a gently used 21 XC60, at time of purchase it had 49,300 miles. At time of incident 50,088 miles. After filling up with premium fuel, I drove about 2.8 miles before the car began miss and hesitate. I was able to drive the last .5 miles to my house. After turning off the car, it would not start, only cranked. I had it towed to an indy shop who specializes in Volvo. They tested the fuel pump iand found hte follwong: "No power going to the fuel pump at fuel pump connector. Check for power steering fuel pump module on top of tank and found power and ground were both preset. This indicated that there was an issue with the cement module.( central electronic module) which is where the fuel pump signal command comes from. Recommendation:
Through research is found that on multiple occasions that these vehicles need the cem module updated to the V2.1 version. Recc going to dealer to have computers updated and problem will go away.
The car is now at the Volvo dealer. In my brief discussion service advisor, he stated that these vehicles have two fuel pumps and it could be the high pressure fuel pump that may be the culprit. They should look at it on Monday.
Anyone else have any experiences with issues like this. Also apologize for long post.
Thank you
