BLIS question
Got our 2022 XC60 Recharge ER back from service requiring computer patch (TCAM was ok) to address host of problems (within one month of purchase). Was driving in city today and was starting to change lanes. Did a shoulder check as always not relying on technology. Lo and behold there was a car on my left passing at a slow enough speed but that wasn’t even with me yet so my peripheral vision didn’t pick it up. Was all on me but was a closer call than I liked. Seemed like a total failure of the vaunted Volvo safety feature. I checked my settings and my online “owners manual”. Every driver aid was on. I was going over 12 mph. In addition to the light on your side mirror (which I don’t believe was on), I
couldn’t find anything in the pathetic online manual about BLIS sounding a warning. And now I don’t think the system does even if it’s working. Is that correct?

There is no audible warning from blis. I think it would get quite noisy if it audibly warned of every car that is ever next to you on either side when moving.

I think it’s too bad they don’t have it if it could operate in a reasonable manner. I have it on my 2015 Mercedes ML and it only comes on if you are crossing the line with someone too close. It doesn’t sound just because someone is passing you. It’s an added layer of protection and with Volvo marketing how safe they are, this type of feature would be beneficial. The XC60 recharge drives wonderfully (when it’s working) but I think it’s just another area of unfortunate cost cutting like the TPMS that doesn’t show actual individual tire pressures and no written owners manual, among other annoying, but admittedly not major, features I didn’t expect this being our first Volvo.
To say it is bad is too polite. After driving for years a car thta has audible warning (when signaling a lane change into car in the blind spot) It is unsafe not to have it ... a major adjust ment that is completely unnecessary as to provide this warning entails a couple of lines of code....
The audible warnings comes on only when the mirror(s) light up and the turn signal is applied.. I find it difficult to adjust to the 2022 XC90 after driving for many years cars that have the audible warning. In fact, I find it unsafe.
