Anyone else notice that the heater is poor/intermittent or absent?

a service rep just told me that the HVCH are failing and on back order

not sure what this means, but my 2022 Xc60 recharge has the least effective heater of any previously owned car

My 2022 XC60 T8 extended range came with a broken High Voltage Coolant Heater (HVCH), which I didn't realize until the weather turned cold. When operating in Pure or Hybrid mode, the car produced no cabin heat. Switching to Power or AWD provided quick relief as heat was provided by the engine. My dealer diagnosed the failed part in December 2022 and said they had it on back-order. Earlier this month, the HVCH was replaced and now I get plenty of heat when operating off the battery. Problem fixed! One drawback, which others have noted, is that the battery gets used up more quickly when powering both the car and providing heat, so if you're expecting 35-40 miles of electric driving after charging the battery to 100%, it's likely you'll get about 20-25 miles if the HVCH is operating at the same time.

 

Yes, this is a "commonly" reported problem.
