HiI've got a 2017 XC60 with keyless entry, the drivers lock is failing so doesn't lock/unlock properly, I've already had the door apart so I know that I can change the lock myself, but does it need programming to the key?

If so obviously I can't do this part myself, I'm considering changing the lock myself and getting an auto electrician to program the new lock if this is necessary, has anyone done this before/got any tips?

No programming is needed. If it was - there would be a SW listed on the parts page (example shown below) with the part number for the software. And if so - VIDA is needed to install the new software - In the US individuals can purchase a VIDA subscription and do software downloads ourselves - don't know what's available in GB
